Privacy Policy
Summary. We collect the information you give us, such as your contact details and the health details in an offer request, and basic technical data about your visit. We use it to run the Site and to connect you with bariatric Providers. When you request surgical offers, we share your request with the Provider you choose and, if you agree, with other participating Providers that advertise with us. They pay us for advertising and patient inquiries. We do not sell your information to data brokers. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how MexicoWeightLossSurgery.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information through MexicoWeightLossSurgery.com (the “Site”). We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us through our contact page.
We are a directory and marketing business, not a healthcare provider or health plan. The U.S. HIPAA rules generally do not apply to us. We still treat health information you send us as sensitive and handle it as described below.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Offer requests: first and last name, email, phone number and country code, preferred contact method and time, country and state or province, the procedure you are interested in, whether you have had weight loss surgery before, height, weight and calculated BMI, age range, health conditions you choose to list, timeline, budget, interest in financing, and any message you write.
- Reviews and photos: your name or display name, email, rating, review text, the center or surgeon the review is about, and images you upload.
- Clinic listings: practice and contact details and information about surgeons, services and prices.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or contact form.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from IP, and the date and time of your visit.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies, including analytics and, where used, advertising pixels (see section 7).
- Data needed for spam and abuse prevention, such as the press-and-hold human check on our forms.
Information from others
We compile information about Providers from public sources, directories and review platforms. Providers may tell us whether they contacted you or whether you became a patient, so we can measure and bill our services.
3. Health information
Height, weight, BMI, health conditions and procedure interest are health information. We collect it only when you choose to provide it in a form, and we use and share it only to respond to your request, to match you with suitable Providers, and to operate and improve our service. By submitting an offer request and checking the consent box, you give express consent to this collection and sharing. You can withdraw consent at any time by sending a request through our contact page; this does not undo sharing that already happened, and Providers that received your request handle it under their own privacy policies.
4. How we use information
- To send your offer request to Providers and help them contact you with surgical offers.
- To publish reviews, photos and listings you submit.
- To run, secure, maintain and improve the Site, including preventing spam and fraud.
- To measure how the Site and our marketing perform, and to bill and report to Providers for advertising and patient inquiries.
- To communicate with you about your request, and, if you agree, to send you related information. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time.
- To comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service and protect our rights and the rights of others.
5. How we share information
- Providers. When you submit an offer request, we share it, including the health details you entered, with the Provider you selected and, if you choose, with other participating Providers that advertise with us. Providers may contact you by phone, text message, WhatsApp or email. Providers are independent businesses, many located in Mexico, and are responsible for how they use your information.
- Service providers. Companies that host the Site, send email, store data, provide analytics, or manage leads for us, under obligations to protect the information.
- Affiliates. Companies under common ownership or control with us, for the purposes described in this policy. See our Advertising Disclosure.
- Legal and safety. When required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business.
Reviews you post are public, along with the name you provide. We do not publish offer requests.
Sale and sharing. We do not sell personal information to data brokers. Because Providers pay us for patient inquiries, sharing an offer request with them may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some U.S. state privacy laws. We do this only with your consent when you submit a request, and you can opt out of any further sharing by sending a “Do not sell or share” request through our contact page.
6. Text messages and calls
If you give a phone number in an offer request and consent, the Provider(s) you agreed to may call or text you about your request, including by WhatsApp. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You can reply STOP to texts from a sender or ask the Provider directly to stop contacting you.
7. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and measure advertising. We may use analytics and advertising services (such as Google Analytics or ad platform pixels) that collect information about your visits over time and across sites. We do not send the health details from offer requests to advertising platforms. You can control cookies in your browser settings, and many browsers support Global Privacy Control signals, which we treat as a request to opt out of sale or sharing where required by law.
8. How long we keep information
We keep offer requests and related records for as long as needed to provide our services, handle billing and disputes with Providers, and meet legal obligations, generally up to 24 months, and then delete or de-identify them. Published reviews remain until removed. Technical logs are kept for shorter periods.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, to obtain a copy, to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, to limit use of sensitive information, and to withdraw consent. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
- United States: residents of states with consumer privacy or consumer health data laws (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Nevada) may have the rights above. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
- Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area: you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to complain to your data protection authority. Where these laws apply, we rely on your consent for health information and offer requests, and on our legitimate interests for running and securing the Site.
- Mexico: you may exercise rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO) and revoke consent under Mexican data protection law.
To make a request, use our contact page and choose “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity. An authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of authorization.
10. International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries, and Providers that receive your request are often in Mexico. These countries may have data protection laws different from yours. By submitting a request, you understand your information will be transferred to these locations for the purposes described here.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, such as encrypted connections and restricted access to offer requests. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through our forms. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version with a new “Last updated” date, and where required by law we will ask for your consent to material changes.
